3:15 - 3:45 PM Break
3:45 - 5:30 PM The Impact of PM2.5 on Mortality in Adults Older Than 65: Evidence from Natural Experiments
6:00 - 7:00 PM Reception
Time Session Speakers
8:30 - 9:15 AM Keynote: State of the Science Seeking the Holy Grail: Searching for Causality in Health and Air Pollution Data
9:15 - 11:15 AM A Counterfactual Approach to Quantify the Causal Effect of Fine Particulate Matter on Mortality Using a Novel Approach
11:15 - 11:30 PM Break
11:30 - 12:30 PM Perspectives from Other Causal Research This session will highlight other research in the causal space, including alternative methods that may to date have had limited application in the air pollution setting.
12:30 - 1:30 PM Lunch
1:30 - 3:30 PM Roundtable with the Researchers: Future Directions and Data Needs for Quasi-Experimental and Counterfactual Research This roundtable discussion with representatives of three research groups as well as other experts will focus on improvement of quasi-experimental and counterfactual research through a critical evaluation of challenges encountered in the featured research projects. Topics will include characteristics of exposure and population data that pose challenges in casual inference, and improvements in future study designs that would increase the informativeness of quasi-experimental and counterfactual analyses for casual inference.
3:30 - 3:45 PM Closing Remarks
